If you have FTP on AS/400 then run remote command to run as/400 programs or
commands. Following is a example of running a command using FTP:

         e.g.: quote RCMD SNDNETF FILE(filename) TOUSRID((XXXUSER XXXPWD))

Good Luck

Subject: Starting an AS/400 program from mainframe

Hi group,

we are experiencing rather big difficulties in coming up with a feasible
solution for the following challenge.

On our mainframe computer, certain information is made available for
collection
from the AS/400. The communication to retrieve this information can only be
initiated by the AS/400.

We do not want to schedule the receiving program so that it checks every now
and
then whether information is available, and the users do not want to start it
themselves.

Therefore, what we need is a way to start the receiving program from the
mainframe, if and when information is available.

This information is not record-based, so that writing directly to the AS/400
and
using file triggering will not work.

To add further difficulties to this, the AS/400 is at V3R2M0, and upgrading
is
(for the near and medium-far future) not an option.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
