Consider the other answers you received but if it MUST be a journal for 
either audit or some other purpose it is possible to write a journal entry 
programmatically. I recently tested writing a journal entry by (I think) 
using a CL command out curiosity while exploring the remote journalling 
functions. Off hand I can't remember exactly what the command was, but 
depending on your needs there is probably also an API that accomplishes the 
same task.

Check the save and restore manuals for journalling and the database 
reference manual. Whatever they are called :) You might also have a look at 
the JRN commands on the command grouping menus.

It would be interesting to hear what you hope to accomplish as you may get 
a better answer.
