Buck,

No lark and not just one PC program. One time it will be a program to show
items and quantity another program to show open orders.

Not sure why client server applications sounds like a lark. Maybe I was not
clear on I would like only two programs on the AS/400, but many PC
programs. I am just trying to find a way to keep from writing a sockets
program to call every RPG program that I need to call from a PC.

Or I could say to this message
http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l/200106/msg00912.html sure load
this program on the AS/400 then format your call in the VB program this
way and then get the results out of the string this way. I know it will
have its limits. If you want to read a file on the AS/400 you will have to
keep track of where you are in the file which would require a special
program on the AS/400 so why not write a sockets program to do it anyway.
Well I would have to say I probably would now that I know how to write
them, but just a few short weeks ago I would of had no clue how to write
one. But could of written an RPG program that read a file and passed back a
unique key of where I was at in the file.

I also know there are packages out there that can do this. But I am a cheap
programmer and I figure I/we should be able to figure this out.

Hope you have/had a nice holiday.

Thanks
John Ross
