Have you tried to do a RCLRSC after the first crash? Any luck?

Yes - I have had this problem loads. So far as I can make out it occurs
when the original program has crashed and has subsequently been replaced by
a recompile, then rerun, all without signing off. It's as if a part of it
gets stuck in memery even though you offer the escape messages etc with "C"
and so on, that ought remove the program from memory completely. The
move/rename of the program to QRPLOBJ doesn't seem to make any difference
either, which implies it is a job / memory problem. As you say, SIGNOFF
works every time and I just type ahead my user / password etc when this
occurs - It is very frustrating I agree.
