Ya, write your own wrapper for it.

If #ValidDate(SomeDate)
...
endif

Then, if anything every comes along, you can always change what's behind
#ValidDate() if it's still using indicators.

Man, another perfect place for overloading... Sending character, numeric,
date data type, or timestamp values into this subprocedure.
