Back in the day when 4800bps modems were The Thing, you'd do anything to
keep the transmission sizes down. We always used PUTOVR instead of
re-sending the whole screen and we never used CF for an exit key. Why read
the whole screen into the program if all you're going to do is throw that
data away and exit?

Sending small datastreams meant that we could support 5 remote offices, each
with 6 to 8 terminals and a printer on a single 4800bps multipoint circuit.
