And you can even use 'file://'.  I created a sort of PDM-like alternative
for WRKLNK.  On a second screen I present the directory entries as
'file://'-URL's.  When clicking one of these the file is handed to Windows,
which will start the default application.  Yes, this way I start Word from a
terminal emulation screen.
