I remember a thread going on for a while where there was an issue
with returning only a single character that wouldn't work in some
situations.  If you set the parameter to 2 characters or more, it would
work fine.

Unfortunately, I don't remember why this was, but it made sense at
the time, nor can I find it in the archives with the perfunctionary
search I did.

When you find the answer, I think you should add this to the FAQ please.
