I needed to use SQL to write 100000+ records to a
file with float and char varying data types.
I am using 'packed dec' and char variables so SQL
is doing a data type translation.
EACH Insert is Creating an ODP and then Destroying.
It takes about 18hrs to Insert 100000 records.
I then changed the SQL.
I loaded a MODS (20000 Ocur) and did an Insert
with 20000 ROWS, reload the MODS etc.
For the first 20000 records this worked great,
took about 30secs BUT then the IOs from the
Input file slowed dramatically to about 5 reads
per second, again impossibly long job.
I suspect a corruption of unrelated ODPs when
SQL Destroys an ODP. Were are RISC on V4.4
(big box dont know the model)
Has anyone else come across this.
