Peter,

I just had a thought on this one, maybe a long shot, but is the subfile program
an
inquiry where the user enters some selection data that filters what gets put
into
the subfile?

Is she hitting enter without filling anything in and causing more that 9,999
records trying to be written? So when you add 1 to your subfile record number
you
are ending up trying to write to # zero? Or in your program you may test for
zero
and add 1 so that you are trying to write to record #1 a second time?
