Hey Rob.

Is there anything that needs to be setup in order to run the RUNRMTCMD from
AS400??.

I get the following message after i run the RUNRMTCMD.....

"A remote host refused an attempted connect operation.
Command did not complete successfully. "

Please advice.

Warning, Danger.  Note that he qualified his statement with 'at least it
better not'.  Several of the trade magazines have written up how to use
commands like RUNRMTCMD to execute commands on a PC.  There is a ?daemon?
that Client/Access will load on the PC ftp server that you can use to
execute a remote command using ftp.  We do this in production.  I do not
know if there would be a remote command daemon without Client Access. And
yes, just to confirm, our 400 starts up processes on the PC and this is
from a batch job and NOT from using STRPCCMD.  You do need a PC login.  And
I think the Client access daemon can be started or stopped at will to
control access.

Short answer: no

Long answer:

Can't be done using ftp client (at least it better not - think of the
security implications - upload crackme.exe, run crackme.exe)

We did something which accomplishes the same task on UNIX.  We added a
cron job to check the upload directory for a new file (the AS/400 would
send this new file every so often).  If the file was found the cron job
would run a program using the file as input.  A result file was then
placed in the download directory for the AS/400 to retrieve.

So while you can't run remote programs using an ftp client, you can set up
the remote host to look for files you are sending it and then act on those
