  • Subject: Zipping files for Client Access download

Hi
We are having some problems using PKZIP. Basically what we are trying to
do is zip a huge file on the AS400 and download to SQL server using Client
Access. The file can take as long as 3 hours on Month-end to download,
which is why we want to try compressing it. On the SQL server side we are
trying to unzip the file but are coming up with error messages related to
data type. I assume the data conversion normally done by Client Access is
not being done and that ASCII conversion should be done before the file is
Zipped. Does anyone know of any procedures that do this, or have any
advice?

Thanks
Andre
