I've been working on a report program using Embedded SQL. It uses a cursor to
select data from multiple files and does a GROUP BY
option on the SELECT. This worked as expected when I ran the SELECT statement
using Interactive SQL; however, it did not work as
expected when embedded in the program. It did not give an error. It gave me
data, but did not group the data as expected. I
finally lucked out and found a parameter in the compile options ALWCPYDTA
(Allow Copy Data). It has three options *OPTIMIZE, *YES,
*NO. *OPTIMIZE is the default. I tried recompiling my program using
ALWCPYDTA(*YES) and found that this solved my problem.

Has anyone had experience with this? Is this a bug in the SQL pre-compilier?

Thanks,
Seth Shields
