the idea was to mimic the way threads can communicate
when you have c program with multiple threads.

if you have an application which has a service program
to which every program is linked you can have some
common accessible storage located there. So you IMO
could have a means of communication with the trigger(s)

In the best of all worlds the system should send a
terminate message to every process that has asked
for that whwn performing a shutdown
