  • Subject: Internet access from 400 through a SOCKS proxy

Hi All,

I am having some trouble getting our AS/400 setup to reach the outside world
through our NT-based SOCKS proxy server...

I have found the settings in OpNav/Protocols/TCPIP for SOCKS, but they do
not seem to have any affect.

1) I am not getting any DNS resolution (except for entries in the AS/400
Hosts table
2) I cannot ping an external IP

Any ideas what I might have missed?
Any suggestions regarding security? (I only want to be able to do outbound
FTP)

Thanks for your help,
David

Jade, I wrote a unit in my Advanced Topics for RPG IV Programmers' course
(OL88/S6122 in US) that explains ILE Error Handling with a lab included. Do
you have any money for education?

I can tell you that it was a bear trying to hunt all the information dwon
to make this stuff understandable. There is supposed to be an RPG Monitor
feature coming soon in RPG IV. Read November's NEWS/400 article about RPG
IV by George Farr.
