Mark,

I need to define a file with 10char name, I thought there is something to rename the file inside the program like renaming fields and record formats...But it seems I was confused...Many thanks to you...and to all who have advised me.

Kind regards

Heba

Are you referring to the File or Record format. The previous posts are fine for the file. Here is the Code for the record format.

     FCUSTMAS4IF  E           K        DISK
     F            LONGRECORD                     KRENAMESHORTRCD

You can define the f-spec. with UC in File Condition, and then
override the file using qcmdexc.
