My vote is to keep one list for both RPG and eRPG. Too many lists make too much
confusion. Searching is easier with one list.

Well I think we definitely are ahead 50 to 1, or 50 of us to 1 of Rob;-)

Who is the moderator for this list? Can you put in a request to Midrange to
make this change.
(man I fell like a _user_ now. I haven't been on this side of the spectrum.

I would be concerned that it would be specializing the list too much. Why
not a subfile in rpg list? Why not an embedded SQL in RPG list? Why not a
S/36 RPG list?

Also, this would cut down on the exposure that others would receive to
programming CGI. There are some shops which may not use it now, but, some
employees might see the light if exposed via this list.

I do not feel that the amount of CGI discussion is distracting to RPG in
general. Does anyone object to the volume of e-rpg discussions on the rpg
list in general?

What would qualify something as E-RPG? The use of the CGI routines? The
use of net.data? The use of sockets? The use of SQL?

We already have people who fire off questions to the RPG list which are
better off left at midrange-l, (and vice versa). Now are these same people
going to fire off questions to all lists in the hope of getting a fast or
better answer?

Who would subscribe to the e-rpg list and not the rpg list? Gee, if there
is alot. And I assume that the 'sharper' programmers are there. Then see
the above paragraph.

Who would subscribe to the rpg list and not the e-rpg list? Did you
respond to the affirmative that you felt the amount of CGI discussion is
distracting to RPG in general?

And now I think I have successfully opened the flood gates for a bunch of
email clutter not germane to rpg. Sorry, but I felt the questions needed
to be asked. Especially regarding exposure to new techniques.

I think it would be a great idea. I have been doing eRPG for a few
months now and I am very happy with what I have learned and what I have
done. Is it an end all be all? No, Not any more than a Subfile
program is or a VB talent is.
But, It is a good place to start for the AS/400 crowd.

I would join the list if there was one.

Since the future is happening now...
What do y'all think of starting an E-RPG mailing list?
The list could be specifically for browser based
programming, sockets, back-end business rules, so forth and
so on.
