I get exposed to AS/SET also. There is no benefit to converting to RPGIV.
Frankly if you are using a CASE tool then you should not be messing around
with the generated source. You should modify the action diagram and then
generate new source. Occasionally some dweeb will modify the source and
then when someone does it the right way the changes will get clobbered.
Now, I am not arguing that AS/SET should not generate RPGIV source, they
should. They should also upgrade the tool to allow ILE integration and
what not.

The following concerns AS/SET.
Rob I dont know about others but the same should apply,
namely converting to RPGIV does NOT affect the ability
to compare source at upgrade time or any other.

Consider that the initial source is AS/SET. That does not change,
there is an AS/SET source compare available.
Next AS/SET generates RPGIII source. Whether or not you
have an RPG400 compiler you can CMPSRC the generated code.
After you convert to RPGIV you can STILL compare source
against your previous conversion.

Frank Kolmann

The only problem you face is if you choose not to use AS/SET
and went and directly modified the RPGIII source. But this
case is irrelevant as you now have divorced yourself from
the AS/SET modifications done by the vendor.
