  • Subject: Unix API read()
  • From: Phil Groschwitz <sublime78ska@xxxxxxxxx>

All,

I am opening an ifs stmf file with read(). The format
is fixed width and the record lengths are the same for
all records (x'0D25' terminates each record at the
same position). The problem is the total length up to
the x'0D25' is not the same for every record BUT when
I open the file in Notepad and using EDTF the data is
formated exactly as I expect it to be - fixed width,
all terminated at the same position. The data missing
is blanks.

What would cause this problem using the unix api's?

Thanks for any help,

Phil
