I asked my colleague here about the Canada issue and whether we do any
business in the French-speaking provinces. As it turns out, we do, but the
extent to which we externalize French text is limited to printing shipping
labels and packing slips that are sent to store locations. The AS/400 in
Canada runs on the same default code page as all of our other AS/400s.
Accented French characters are not entered in our AS/400 system, nor is there
any point of data entry into our AS/400 that is not done here in the states.

At the point someday in the future where we may find ourselves interacting
with French-Canadian consumers, we will likely have to deal with the issue.

Well Canada is officially bilingual and there are a lot of folks here who
have accented characters in their names. Many companies accommodate such
names in their databases.
