There is an MI function GENUUID() that can be called from RPG. Carsten
Flensburg posted an RPG IV template, which is all that you need to get
going.

Just as a side note, I abandoned my plan to use UUID's because they proved
to be too cumbersome to use. I don't believe that they'll be truly useful on
the 400 unless we get a new UUID data type.
