The problem I have with the use of semicolons as a statement terminator in
free-format RPG is where I've seen them used in some of the examples that
are floating around.

As I understand it, the proposal is to terminate EVERY statement with a
semicolon. This means that we would see something like this in the future:

  if some_condition;
    statement1;
  else;
    statement2;
  endif;

I have no problems with the semicolons at the end of the 2nd, 4th, and 5th
lines, but my experience with C, Pascal, and Java tells me that the
semicolons at the end of the 1st and 3rd lines just DON'T LOOK RIGHT. I can
already see myself having all kinds of problems with forgetting to put
semicolons in such "unnatural" places.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks strange and foresees problems as a
result? If we are going to have statement terminators, doesn't it make
sense to implement them like they are implemented in other languages?
