A variable of 13,2 with an edit code of 'N' and a currency symbol can be up
to 19 characters in length if I figure it correctly.

-$99,999,999,999.99

If you need the output to fit in 18 characters (assuming you never have a
value that results in 19 characters) then try a %trim around your %editc.
