Code reuse is probably the biggest.  Application deployment is probably the
next.

For example, you write a subprocedure that returns the next available
invoice number.  Let's say now you have a subroutine that does this copied
into 5 programs.  Make that routine ILE and not only does it make the call a
simple eval statement, but if you have an error in it, you fix the
subprocedure, and send out only the new service program instead of all the
programs that use it.

A lot of the benefits of Java I believe are also benefits of ILE.
