If you are going to do the work required to convert/rewrite, skip RPG III
(traditional RPG for the AS/400 and S/38) and go to RPG IV (named ILE RPG).

Depends on how much code you're dealing with and if there is a deadline.
The benefits of "native" RPG code on the AS400 make the decision to
re-write
very easy for me, however, this decision must be made considering the BIG
picture of project deadlines and management expectations.
