RE: Program performance using File Status Data Structure

I would say if you don't use it, get rid of it.  It could be confusing when you or a junior looks at it a year from now.  We use a standard *pssr subroutine that uses info from the infds, if for some reason I were to take out the error handling subroutine then I would also remove the data structure.
