I have been working through the Application Display Programming manual,
SC41-5715-00
(http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr/BOOKS/QB3AUK00/CCONTENTS).
This, combined with the User Interface APIs manual, combined with a _lot_ of
trial and error, got me under way.

I found that panel groups are intimidating at first sight, but get easier to
understand very quickly.  One of the nicest aspects is that the UIM handles
most of the I/O for you.  For me at least, this greatly reduces the amount
of debugging of the display code.
