Embedded SQL -- RPG400-L

This is probably one of the "dumb" ones. We are having a problem with insert, 
update and delete (but not select - stadalone or in a cursor) when we embed 
it in RPG-IV. If we run it from STRSQL, it works but when we try it from RPG 
it returns SQLCOD of -7008. We trired it with a single field file to 
eliminate any other problems (NOT NULL definitions, etc). Is there something 
we're missing?
