I actually do not know if there is a data structure subfield size limit in RPG
III, but I do know that you
can have large fields in RPG IV. An alternative, however, is a program
described file.

Such as:

      FARCALC UF F 110 DISK
       *
      IARCALC NS
      I 1 20ARCO#
      I 3 7 ARCUST
      I 8 160ARINV#
      I 17 220ARINDT
      I 21 220ARINYY
      I 19 200ARINMM
      I 17 180ARINDD
      I 23 302CHKTTL
      I 31 382ARAMNT
      I 104 1102DIFF$

Using this, you would do a READ on ARCALC instead of the format name. This
will automatically
populate the fields for you.

If you have any questions on how to do this, let me know and I'll help you out.

Have you considered, however, creatting DDS for the flat file in question?

Regards,

Jim Langston
