So... how do I "Use the data from that as a variable on the SQL-statement"?  
Some example 
code would be greatly appreciated.

Why not list the members in a user space with the Display member list API 
and
retrieve any occurrence from the user space. Use the data from that as a 
variable
on the SQL-statement.
