How about DSPATR(&program-to-system-field)? Take a look at the DDS manual
keyword DSPATR

Is there a method to display an error msg with DSPATR(RI PC) without using
an indicator?  It seems to me I read something a few years back in one of
the technical magazines about using program-to-system variables, or
something like that.  One of our major master file maintenance programs is
running out of indicators, and I'd rather not hunt thru the code to find
where I can reuse indicators.  By the way, we are use a message subfile.
