John,

Not a flame - but it is irresponsible to distort the history of Java on a
newsgroup whose membership is still largely ignorant of the technology in
the first place. Labelling it a joke doesn't change the fact that you are
grossly misrepresenting the facts.

For those of you who aren't up to date on the Java history, when it was
created, Java was never intended to be a business language. In fact, "Oak"
as the Java language was originally called, was never the goal in the first
place. Java technology was originally intended for consumer electronics
devices. Java the language, was created due to some limitations of C++,
which was the language originally used for the project.

Regards,

John Taylor
