Title: Multiple physical logical
rpg doesn't like the two PF's in the LF, but you can fool it into using it.  Either do CRTRPGPGM and tell it that compile level 40 is OK, or compile the program with a single PF logical and OVRDBF the logical at run time.

Your approach is a great trick, because it allows you to pick up records from two pf's in the same logical view.  You can use this, for example, to pick up live and archived records in a report.

Subject: Multiple physical logical

Dear List,

Here are the details connected to a problem I'm having:

1.  I have a logical build over 2 physicals (open and history).  The DDS follows...

     File X

A          R I4211                     PFILE(F4211)
A                                          PFILE(F42119)
A          K SDDOCO
A          K SDLNID

Creating the file this way merges the both files using one record format.

2.  When I try to create an RPG400 (not ILE), the compile fails saying the following,
     Message . . . . :   Record-format name in externally-described-logical file already defined in file.

I've tried renaming, but without any success.

Any ideas ????????

Thanks
