Jim,

you can issue the OVRPRTF with a call to QCMDEXC from the RPG
and USROPN the printer file.

Maybe you have to care about the scope of the override (parameter OVRSCOPE).

(Have to admit that i haven't tested exactly this, but it works for 
physical files, so why shouldn't it for printer files.)

On the other hand, i'd dare to copy the PRINTER printer file to a AGINGRPT 
printer file. Maybe you sometimes want to change the overlay to a watermark 
"Attention. This report was created by a program so old, it started to 
smell already. Let me re-write it..."
