Hey, you've got an operating system under your feet that deserves this name!

The answer is: You do not have to worry about it, big mama IBM will care 
about it. Just calculate, for your program it will always be a single 
contigous storage area.

It's nearly on the frontier to wasted time to look in the cooking pots to 
know how she does it - she has the right and the duty(!) to change the 
recipes to achieve the goal (without notice), to get the most out of the 
AS/400, whatever the machine and the lower levels may look like in the future.

Besides:
A user space expands itself when its attribute is set to. (with API 
QUSCUSAT) The extension happens when you navigate outside the existing 
storage with a pointer.
