That's the way the "tool" should work. That's the design. It works as 
designed. I cannot see a problem here.

What i can see is a wish, a desire, a "requirement", but i (and obviously 
many others, too) still can't understand it.

When you want to have control over the paging, then take it. (SFLSIZ=SFLPAG 
or a solution via arrays, completely without subfiles).

What are you trying to do? What kind of functionality do you want to offer 
to users that a subfile doesn't offer?

Tell us, then the chance for a solution increases dramatically....
