Colin,

I might suggest that you eliminate #Screen2 completely and use the #MSGF for
all your message functions.  It is a message subfile after all.  Just before
you call your second CLP, send a program message with type *STATUS.  After
your second CLP completes, send a *COMP message to signal the completion.

Hope this helps, even if it didn't answer your question directly, but
instead suggested another approach.
