Hi Richard,

Have you tried to use:
  ...JOBQ(&JOBL/&JOBQ)

instead of change the value of variable for JOBQ:
  ...CHGVAR     VAR(&JOBQS) VALUE(&JOBL *BCAT '/' *CAT +
                &JOBQ)

Why don't you try that first and see how it works.
Also, i recommend to use MONMSG so you can send message when the pgm bombs.
