Use a trigger program. It depends on precisely how your application is
supposed to work but you could either:

1) put the trigger on your work file and process each record as it is
written. Or...

2) create a second file and put the trigger on that one. When your input has
been completed, write a single record to this second file to trigger the
required processing.
