I've always found subfiles built from multiple data base files to be very
difficult to manage. You can do it (anythings possible on the 400) but its a
lot of work. If possible, build a logical over both files. That makes life a
lot easier.

Build a free-form subfile. That is a subfile with only one or two long
fields in it. Put data from either file into the field and write the subfile
record. That way you can get the records sequenced correctly. If you want
the SFLDROP capability, you have to provide it programmatically. You can't
use the keyword.

If you can't build the logical (either join or multiformat), I wouldn't even
try it. Rolling becomes a pain in the neck.
