  • Subject: Re: Quick survey - how well structured are your RPG apps?

I said the very same thing to Wayne Madden, open source the RPG
compiler. This reminds me of something I thought while, reading Bob
Tiptons address and his rebuttal to IBM's rebuttal to his comments (whew
that is a mouth full).
I don't agree with Mr. Tipton on a few points, one point is that it is
not a programmers job to market a platform. I do think that it is our
job to ensure that the platform is marketable.
Programmers can take steps to make the AS/400 more attractive to a
larger number of potential customers. Like Hans said once before,
providing frameworks on which to build e-commerce apps is perhaps the
best thing we can do to ensure that RPG and the AS/400 are attractive.
We need to focus, not on the obvious incompetence with IBM has handled
the marketing of the box, but instead on what we as a community can do
to enhance the marketability of the AS/400.

Author of email just had a brain dump. (C I R F)
