     So he packed up his bags and he moved to Beverly...... Hills that

     Seriously, Dan, I hear you. We get considerable resistance from 
     management to any ideas that push the envelope on the AS400. 
     Because all of our AS400 apps are considered "mission critical", 
     and management sees that bleeding edge PC apps often (and 
     regularly) fail with dramatic flair, they assume that the AS400 
     must suffer from the same pitfalls (it does, to some extent, though 
     not quite as dramatic or flaky).  We have a bit more leeway on our 
     dev box, so we can at least learn and prototype new technology when 
     we can demonstrate the need to do so.

I've already ranted in a previous post about wanting to be in a leading-edge 
AS/400 environment.  Maybe I need to move to California.  ;-)
