If you use the *LIST option a  copy of the listing is saved with the *PGM
object.  Through the use of the debug APIs it is possible to retrieve this
and
therefore possible to re-create the source file.  I believe one of the
magazines
(news/400 ?) published a program a while back that would do just that.
There are also third party tools (check out www.sourceretrieval.com) that
can
retrieve RPG source from the program object.

None of these of course should be regarded as an alternative to a decent
back-up
policy!!
