Joel,

The LDA is 1024 characters in length and is specific to an individual job 
which the system creates.  The contents of the LDA can be changed using CL 
command CHGDTAARA or in RPG using the IN and OUT commands.

What some people do is use an external file definition to define the 
structure of the LDA for a particular program or application.
