Noone is a fogey if he *ever* used U1-U8. (U9 is a typo, isn't it? :-)
Hn-indicator, OK, i didn't like them too much in the past and do not now.
But, for instance, U1-U8 were the only way to conditional opening of a file
in RPGII then.
