Good point (below), Jaydeep.  The RPG cycle has all the steps a report
program  needs for Level breaks, Total time processing etc.  Otherwise, one
must code those steps manually.  

 Software vendors (JD Edwards, Lawson, Software 2000 etc) usually (but not
always ) manually code level breaks and total time processing for report
programs.  But JD Edwards does have some report programs written Input
Primary, to take advantage of the RPG cycle.  These programs are much
shorter in length than other programs.

It helps a lot in case of Level Breaks, Matching records. Operating system
itself is taking care of lot of things. At the same time without RPG CYCLE,
you
have to write your own logic to do the same thing, which is not always good.

can avoid lot of extra codings.
