I agree with you completely Steven. I am in a similar situation. A short
time ago I accepted a position at a charity - type organization that relies
heavily on volunteers, of which there is a quick turnover. They use queries
very extensively without any knowledge on how they are created. I have
spent the last 3 years with Y2k or creating display, subfile, and
maintenance programs so I'm finding myself having to relearn anything I may
have known about queries and the simplest report programs. (If anyone has
any pointers on those 2 subjects for this braindead programmer, it'd be
appreciated. I think I need a 'Report Writing for Dummies' book) My
volunteer users guard their data very jealously. I keep finding myself in
situations where one division's data isn't being displayed on their query
report because of another division's decision to create a new site number
and move data into it. Without notifying anyone. This is a organization of
450 users and 42 divisions. It takes quite a bit of time to track down the
problem and talk everyone into a solution that will keep us all happy and
more importantly maintain the integrity of the data.

I couldn't begin to tell everyone on this list how much I appreciate
everything I have read and all the things I have learned. I'm sure I'm not
the only one who depends on the people on this list as a support and on your
advise. I know it's not RPG related but thank you.
