Gade,

Performance is very hard to judge without seeing the actual
process. The most important thing in a modern program is to
separate the presentation logic from the database and application
logic. If the presentation is done with RPGIV, the most important
thing is to support the common areas with sub-procedures. For an
example of message handling sub-procedures and techniques, Midrange
Computing published an article in October of 1998 titled "RPG
Building Blocks: ILE Message Handling". This same magazine published
a page at a time subfile example last December titled "Picklists on
the Fly". This example does not use traditional I/O, but uses dynamic
SQL with and SQLDA, which will not give scorching performance, but you
may want to look at the paging techniques. You can download either from:

Hi Guys,

I feel like my subfile is running really really slow. Could somebody give
me a good example for subfile & message subfile programming in RPGIV where
subfile page = size??.

What are the modern ways of populating the subfiles in ILE RPG???.

Thanks.
Gade.
