I wouldn't waste a single minute on this.

Invest the time in good planning and good coding; there's a lot more time to
win/waste there.

A source physical file is pretty much the same as a physical file with
MAXMBRS(*NOMAX) and a DDS with the fields SRCSEQ, SRCDAT and SRCDTA. I've
never noticed any difference from the performance point of view between
them.
