Most of the speed issues deal with starting up the new activation group when
a program is called.  I've used a base 170 and the speed is ok.  A decked
out 170, the speed was great.  50S and it was ok.  a 720, well, let's just
say it totally rips.

You didn't mention if there was any other load on the machine.  This could
also be something to look at.  Web serving takes CPU.
